As a private physician (Wahlärztin) I have no contract with the health insurance funds. You pay the fee directly and then submit the invoice to your health insurance fund. A part of the amount is reimbursed to you.

About Dr. Ivana Vyrva
I am a specialist in otorhinolaryngology (ENT) with more than ten years of clinical and surgical experience in paediatric and adult ENT care, including head and neck procedures during my hospital work.
My training and professional career took place at university hospitals and specialised centres in Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and the United States, complemented by observerships in Germany. Throughout my career, I have treated a wide spectrum of ENT conditions, ranging from common outpatient concerns to complex surgical and multidisciplinary cases.
My surgical training took place in hospital. There I performed tonsillectomy and tonsillotomy, endoscopic adenoidectomy, functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), septoplasty, microlaryngeal surgery and airway endoscopy. In otologic surgery I performed procedures including mastoidectomy and cochlear implantation, among them cochlear implantation in young children; these operations were part of my hospital work and are not offered in this practice. Head and neck procedures such as lymph node excisions and the removal of congenital and acquired neck cysts were also part of that work. In the practice the focus is examination, diagnosis, conservative treatment and, where surgery is appropriate, referral to a hospital.
From 2016 to 2024 I taught at the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University and at the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava. Academic work and continuous professional development remain an integral part of my medical practice.
In addition to my clinical work, I am the founder and CEO of Larinta, a digital health startup focused on the development of AI-assisted diagnostic solutions in otorhinolaryngology.
Research and teaching
I am currently a doctoral (PhD) candidate in otorhinolaryngology at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University in Brno. More than 30 scientific publications and lectures at over 40 national and international congresses.

Paediatric ENT: training and background
Paediatric ENT was a focus of my clinical career. I worked at St. Anna Children's Hospital in Vienna and at Slovakia's national children's hospital (NÚDCH) in Bratislava, both specialised paediatric hospitals, examining and operating on children of all ages — from adenoids and tonsils to middle ear findings and cochlear implantation in young children. Those operations belong to my past hospital work; in the practice I provide examination, diagnosis, follow-up and referral where needed. I remain professionally involved through scientific publications and lectures at national and international ENT congresses.

Dr. Vyrva is an English-speaking ENT specialist in Vienna. Consultations are held directly with the doctor in English, and also in Slovak, Czech and Russian.
Costs and insurance
Private practice (Wahlarzt). Austrian public insurance (ÖGK) refunds part of the fee on request; you receive the invoice you need. The refund is a percentage of the public insurance tariff for the service, not of the private fee.
